A JOJO2K Mix
Songs about heartbreak, relationships, drugs, hamsters and whatnot are fine every now and then, but doesn't it seem like those are the topics of every other song?! Lucky for you, you hold the solution! Below is a list of FIFTEEN feel-good tracks that don't presume that you need the embrace of the conjugal act to be happy, nor does it assume that Mondays suck! Peace and blessings to you, my friend!

I've entered a dangerous realm of making mixes for friends. I find it to be so much fun that it could bankrupt me and very quickly annoy my friends if I kept making mixes all the time for people haha... I made this one as a gift for a couple people originally, but I've kept finding excuses to give it to more people. So why not give it to everyone here also?! Making a playlist for others is one thing, but making a whole flippin CD with cover art and everything is something else - I know if I received something like this, I'd keel over in happiness.
If you ever feel so inclined to make your own copy of this or something similar, clicking on the thumbnail of the front and back image file links to the highest quality version of it. If you take this file to a Kinko's/FedEx/Office Depot/wherever and hit print, I've gotten the exact size needed to fit in a CD jewel case from printing at two different places when printed landscape on 8.5x11 (letter) paper. Or if you want to make your own mixes or CDs, using those dimensions and measurements will get you what you need. The results look good in person, and a full color print from a lot of these places are just a dollar or less.
You may notice too that there's a blurred-out Spotify code on the CD case imagery. One of the people I was going to give a copy of this to doesn't have any kind of CD player - not even in the car? Blasphemy!! - so I gave her a copy but included that code you can scan on Spotify to get a Spotify version of the mix. It links to a playlist on my personal Spotify though, so no link for you! Meet me in real life and maybe I'll give you a link to that version! For everyone else reading this though, you can listen to the YouTube version of this mix.
Though of course I abhor the idea of actually burning copies of these songs to disc and giving them away to people. All of this is a private, personal matter of course of course, there is no trading or selling of things going on here. Of course.
Also, the original CD ending in "rises the moon" is my artsy fartsy flourish to this mix... the song sounds very somber on the surface, but if you pay attention to the lyrics, it's very reassuring. Given that it's less energetic than most of the other songs on this mix, I thought it was a fitting ending to the whole thing.
Finally, regarding the topic of this mix, it's always a marvel to find somewhat-popular and well-produced music that isn't all about relationships and whatnot, so I wanted to make a mix about it! This is a mix I feel you can play any time in the summer, car windows rolled down, wind in your hair and feel like you're in some beloved coming-of-age indie film or something... a perpetual feel-good mix that doesn't depend on your relationship status.
